What are bioplastics?

Bioplastics are innovative materials made from renewable resources, such as starches and sugars of plant origin, through industrial processes that transform these natural raw materials into polymers with characteristics similar to traditional plastics.

Unlike conventional plastics, the bioplastics used by DOpla are compostable in industrial plants: that is, they can degrade under controlled conditions, turning into compost and helping to reduce the environmental impact of waste.

Not all bioplastics are the same. Some are derived from plant sources but are not biodegradable, while others are designed to decompose according to precise standards. The solutions adopted by Dopla combine renewable origin and certified compostability, ensuring safety for food use, good technical performance and lower environmental impact. A concrete choice toward a more sustainable plastics and a model of circular economy.

Biocompost

Products made from these bioplastics are designed for safe and responsible food use. They offer good performance in terms of strength and functionality while being compostable in industrial plants. They are ideal for those seeking single-use solutions with less environmental impact.

PLA

These products are made from a bioplastic obtained by fermenting sugars found in renewable raw materials, such as corn. Lightweight and transparent, they are suitable for food contact and ideal for cold use.

Disposal

Products made from bioplastics must also be disposed of properly to ensure a real environmental benefit. It is a good idea to remove food waste and never dispose of these materials in the environment, thinking that they will degrade on their own: biodegradation takes place under controlled conditions within specialized facilities.

Proper disposal allows these products to turn into compost, a useful substance in agriculture and soil management. To avoid mistakes, it is always recommended to check local regulations on compostable waste disposal, which may vary from municipality to municipality.
